A four-storey, 270 m² house located in Kolonia Łaskiego—the first planned residential development in Saska Kępa—was designed for a family of five.
The interior design was intended to capture the spirit of Saska Kępa and the atmosphere of pre-war Warsaw. The bathrooms feature traditional “Warsaw corset” tile patterns, inspired by motifs commonly found in historic tenement houses. Each room tells its own story, while all interiors come together to form a cohesive and harmonious whole.
The ground floor flooring was inspired by a Venetian palace featuring original terrazzo in shades of yellow, orange, and black. This 19th-century Italian flooring set the tone for the subsequent design decisions and established the color palette for this part of the house.
The kitchen features flat green fronts divided by a framed structure, giving it a modern classic feel. In contrast, a navy kitchen island—composed of two rounded half-cylinders joined by a quartz countertop—stands out boldly against the green cabinetry and ochre-toned floor.

A key element unifying the project is the original staircase, with its preserved balustrade and 1930s balusters. The entire structure was painted in an off-white shade, while the walls were finished with decorative milled paneling, enhancing the timeless and elegant character of the space.
The renovation also included transforming the basement into a fully functional space, replacing the original earthen floor with proper structural foundations. In the attic, a new roof was constructed, replacing the former storage space with a five-meter-high interior housing a bedroom, walk-in wardrobe, and private bathroom. Roof windows bring natural light into both the bedroom and bathroom, while a new steel structure allowed for an open-plan layout by eliminating structural columns.
The interior also features numerous vintage pieces from the 1960s, including modular shelving systems by Poul Cadovius and designs by Hałas, adding depth and character while blending historical influences with modern living.
